The Teen Society is an organization dedicated to raising awareness and embracing the teenage chapter in life. As a member of The Teen Society, our teens will be provided with a place to renew, rebuild, and reclaim their lives, lives that matter most. Through positive approaches such as entertainment, performance enhancement, empowerment, creativity, education, and community service, The Teen Society provides teens a place to flourish and become their best “teen” selves.
The goal is to engage teenagers, ages 13-19, in a creative environment that supports their physical, social, and emotional development. Teen mental health issues and drug use in the Verde Valley are devastating. Overdose deaths have risen over 20% this last year in Yavapai County with 68% of the deaths linked to the youth population (The Daily Courier, 2021). According to the U.S. Census (2021), 12% of the Yavapai County population are in poverty. There are limited resources available in the area that focus specifically on teens in our community and allows them a place to engage with one another in a healthy environment building skills necessary to a positive growth and development. The Teen Society fulfills needs in the community for parents who work or are struggling to have an empowering place for their teen to thrive.

Empowerment is one of The Teen Society's most important missions because it allows our teen members to reach their potential. Upon trust and rapport building with each member, teens will be assessed using personality measurements and encouraged to explore their goals.

Education
Teen members are educated by professionals depending on what passions, talents, and particular interests they express. Education can range from musical arts, theatre, dance, psychology, history, sex education, cultivation, culture and diversity, to economy, politics, language, and more. This education is based on your need and intention. The staff works with you one-on-one via discussion, or in group discussion formats. Research conducted may include areas such as adolescent development, performance, creativity, and motivation. Teens and parents will have the option to participate in research areas.
Community Service
The Teen Society promotes community involvement and encourages our teen members to give back. Through partnering with our community members such as New Hope Fellowship Food Pantry, The Verde Valley Sanctuary, Catholic Charities, the Cottonwood Recreation Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Child and Family Support Services, and the Old Town Mission, The Teen Society strives to promote involvement. The Teen Society will match members with their particular areas of interest and will allow them to have experience in their desired field. Volunteering has been shown to increase positive well-being and a sense of worth that teenagers need to learn, grow, and thrive.
The Teen Society was founded in 2021 by two sisters, Sarah and Analise Williams. The vision and mission for The Teen Society were developed by these sisters as a way to promote and encourage healthy growth and development of our teenage community while promoting our teen’s self-worth and identity. Through creativity and exploration, teens can have an environment to become their best selves. Teenage hardship is on the rise and they need a place to feel special, acknowledged, and important.
Sarah and Analise have lost many friends and family due to drug and alcohol abuse as teenagers in the Verde Valley, including their beloved brother, Brandon Williams. They dedicate this organization to Brandon and all of our community member's loved ones.
Sarah began to focus on our teens when her daughter started high school. Having gone to the same school and lived her teenage years in the same community, she became aware of the challenges our teens face today. Our Verde Valley Community lacks a place for teenagers to be teenagers.
Analise has also grown up in the Verde Valley and has more than a decade experience working with the youth in our community. Analise received her Master's Degree in Psychology and is studying Performance Psychology at Grand Canyon University to receive her PhD.
Our teenagers are the future. They need a place to learn, grow, and empower to become the light they know they already are.
Our amazing team of teens, educators, professionals, experts, and volunteers are committed to helping our teen community. The Teen Society supports our teens by empowering them to positively embrace the teenage chapter in their life. Join our team today!
